Imagination Collage

Today we are going to make an imagination collage!

What’s that you ask? Well….anything you can imagine!

Think of it as making a colourful map of all the things about you, what you think about and what you like.

From the looks of this collage of Tiikat’s, he is quite lucky all the amazing thoughts and ideas that take up our brain space stay there (usually) – if they were to escape in real life he could lose them and it would get extremely messy!

Difficulty Level:

1 paintbrush

What you need:

Method:

  1. Get ready. Have a think about and write a list of things that you like that you would like to draw (for example, your favourite foods, places, people, things). You could also look through old magazines or newspapers for pictures that you could use or print out some pictures. Collect things that you like to decorate your collage – like stickers or sequins.
  2. Print and cut out a small black and white picture of yourself.
  3. Stick this picture to your piece of card in one of the bottom corners.
  1. Using pencils start drawing the pictures of your favourite things coming out of your head, like a sort of thought bubble. Start off with them really small and get bigger.
  2. Stick on any cut out magazine or printed pictures. It is a good idea to leave space between these pictures so that you can draw things around them.
  3. Go back to adding drawings with your pencils, drawing around the other pictures.
  4. From this picture you can see that we’ve drawn a big ball and made it look like it is behind the others. Try layering something like this too!
  1. Keep adding pictures, deciding what would look good where. We want to end up with as little white card on show as we can!
  2. You might want to use things like pom poms on your collage to fill the space with colour like we have.
  3. You can also add some sequins to take up more space and make it shiny!
  4. Your finished collage will look very imaginative and fun like this. It should seem like all the ideas are flying out of your head!
