FruiTii Boats

Fancy sailing away on a boat that you can nibble on when you are hungry?

These fruity boats are delicious for breakfast, dessert or a snack at any time of the day.

We often like to add some peanut dip (see recipe) for added protein and taste.

We have made a sail using paper, but you could use food instead e.g. cheese slices.

Cooking time: 15 minutes assembling
Makes 1 bowl (perfect to share for 2 too!)

Difficulty Level:

1 wooden spoon

What you need:

Equipment:

  • Knife
  • Chopping Board
  • Paper, coloured pens/pencils, scissors, tape and wooden skewer (if making a paper sail)
  • Wide bowl or plate to serve

Ingredients:

  • 200ml Yoghurt (g. greek yoghurt or dairy alternative)
  • 1 Banana
  • Handful of berries
  • Other fruit e.g. kiwi or mango (optional)
  • Peanut dip (see recipe) or nut butter (optional)

Method:

  1. First put the yoghurt in the centre of the plate, or wide rimmed bowl.
  2. Peel banana and place on top of the yoghurt. This is the base of your boat.
  3. Prepare the other fruit you are using. Peel and cut where necessary.
  4. Decorate the sea and banana using berries and other fruit.
  5. Add blobs of peanut dip, or nut butter if using.
  6. Cut out a large triangle from a piece of paper and decorate. This is your sail. Attach it to a wooden skewer with tape and stick it into the centre of your banana.

Further Activities

Try making a simple fruit boat by using a slice of apple or orange, and a sail made from a slice of pineapple or cheese attached with a cocktail stick.

We love topping our apple boats with peanut dip!
