Brainy Headdress

Lets get brainy!

This headdress is sure to confuse and amaze. Show off your imagination and wear your brain on the outside!

Make sure to collect lots of wacky and interesting things to attach to it.

What you need:

Method:

  1. Cut a long strip of card out. It should be 4cm wide, and as long as your paper will allow. Repeat so that you have two strips. This will end up as the band of the headdress around your head.
  2. Sellotape the two pieces together to make one long piece.
  3. Place the piece around your head and mark out where the card meets itself. Take it off your head and then sellotape it together at the place you marked it (with the mark just visible). It should now fit your head!
  4. Draw a brain on a separate piece of card.
  1. Cut out your brain.
  2. Draw a brain again, as if seen from the other side.

    Tip: Flip over your first brain and trace around it to make sure they are the same size.
  3. Think about things that you like and write them on the 2 brains.
    Hint: Use different coloured pens and different sizes and directions to make them look really cool.
  4. Glue or tape your two brains to the sides of your headpiece.
  1. Sellotape pipe cleaners to the inside of one brain. They look like they are coming out of the brain!
  2. Stick pipe cleaners to the inside of the other brain too.
  3. You can cut them so they’re all the same length like ours, or have them different lengths.
  4. Using glue or double sided sticky tape, decorate the front. We’ve stuck some feathers on, but you can add what you want.
  1. Now you could add some ribbon across the front of the band like we have. We used double sided sticky tape for this.
  2. Next, fasten your collected small items to the tops of the pipe cleaners. We’ve used sellotape for this.
  3. If you have something larger you want to attach, but one pipe cleaner isn’t strong enough, you could use multiple pipe cleaners in different areas to help hold it up. We have done this on the butterfly.
  4. Now it is time to wear your headdress! Show it off and see if people can guess what is inside your head!
